sunshine in my fridge

I took the day off so I could focus on baking.  I also needed time to continue to get the house in order for my new renter/roomie.  Jamie came over in the evening to help and we got the cake and 36 cupcakes decorated.

Which means it is time to make room in the pantry - which was due for a clean up and organize session anyway.

lego battles

Watching Justin play his Nintendo DS is fascinating.  I have no idea how to play and he totally knows what he is doing and he loves it.

mattress fail

Justin lovin' on Paxil.

And as if moving this mattress wasn't hard enough - Harlow and Lucy rode on it for several feet, Like I needed 20 more pounds to push!
The fail:  Back in 2008 Jamie bought this awesome pillow top queen mattress. Then a month later she moved back in with Scott and brought the mattress over to my house to store - which was perfect because I had rented my spare room to Julie and she needed a bed. Julie moved out at the beginning of the month and this pillow top was calling my name. Julie had slept on it a dozen times at most and Jamie about the same - it was like new. So two weeks ago I thought I would do a little mattress switch-a-roo and take the better, softer, plusher mattress for myself. So I pushed two queen mattresses, which are really awkward and heavy down the hallway, but wait! Houston we have a problem! That pillow top was hot! Too warm to sleep comfortably on. Who knew!? So after trying really hard to just adjust {cause it is really comfortable otherwise} - I gave up and switched back.

when all else fails...

take pictures of cats

And if it weren't for Amanda there would be no pictures today.  I have been very bad at picking up the camera, but Amanda got some cute shots of LucyBomb and Paxilicious.

24 hours in Ocean Shores

My day started in a hotel room in Ocean Shores. We woke to wind and rain. After the free breakfast at the hotel we got a move on. And much to our surprise we had the car loaded and we were ready to hit the road by noon. We were shocked at how efficient we were. We pulled out of Ocean Shores exactly 24 hours after we had arrived. The drive back to Portland sucked, it was so wet and so rainy that visibility was next to nothing at times. We stopped of in Vancouver for lunch and manicures, followed by Craft Warehouse. It was a whirlwind, so it was nice to be home.

tea for two or fifteen

We arrived in Ocean Shore around noon and hit up the casino for lunch {crab cakes - yes please!} then we headed over to Grandpa and Grandma's house. It was kind of surreal. We dug around for a few hours not really accomplishing anything other than getting a feel for what we were in for. After a few hours we left and went to check into the hotel. After plopping down on our bed with lap tops in lap we had to force ourselves back up and back over to do what we were here to do. Our smartest move that night was ordering pizza delivered for dinner. It was delicious and it meant we didn't have to leave and waste time at a restaurant. Although we did leave to go to the IGA to get chocolate sauce for our cheesecake and a movie for some back ground noise. We left around 10:00 and hit up the pool and hot tub at the hotel.

Working on the lemon cupcakes I will be baking for Nicole's party on the 29th.  These weren't too shabby, I think I will go sample another.

one little word

I tossed around the idea of NOT doing this picture a day thing, but I don't think I want to stop - it is way too awesome to look back on.

In addition trying to keep this up I am also taking a class at bigpicturescrapbooking.com called One Little Word.  This picture is part of the first creative prompt for the month of January.  It is a year long online class and I am really looking forward to it.

I smell cheese and crackers

I made Justin noodles for dinner and warmed up some of my favorite soup for myself.  I always eat crackers and cheese with my soup.  My soup was warming, and I yet to cut the cheese or get the crackers out - Justin walks into the kitchen... sniff sniff... I say, what's up bud?  He says "I smell cheese and crackers."  He totally associated the smell of my soup with cheese and crackers.  I laughed and later he stole all my cheese.

1-1-11

Today we drove home.

Tonight after bath Lucy hopped on Justin for some loves and he asked me to take a picture.  I think the kitties missed us.
