reason #8912 why my kid rocks

We went to Home Depot this evening to get stove top cleanser.  After I had parked I pulled out my phone to send a quick text while Justin "buckled out".  He always crawls out between the two front seats and out my door. He had his hood up to avoid getting rained on {it was pouring out} and he put my hood up for me too.  It was the sweetest thing.  He had done the same this morning when I took him into school.

I want to paint the bathroom red!

Justin woke up this morning and let me know that we should paint the bathroom red.
Which bathroom? "The downstairs one" he told me.  He was adamant.  Right now the bathroom is a pretty shade of green - one that compliments the pineapple collection that sits on the cupboard.  I don't know where the desire to paint the bathroom red is coming from and I am not sure he knows either.  I would totally indulge him on this {because I have been itching to paint a room for a while now} but I like the color of this room.

Justin has been learning about space at school.  The little guy in the ship is eating a worm.

what's in my cart?

I stayed home today. In bed. Fever, body aches and a sore throat had me down. It snowed a little today too. At 8:00pm I rolled out of bed and down to Freddies. I needed milk (so I could take all the Ibuprofen I was taking) and soup.
For whatever reason the store shelves were picked clean.
I grabbed:
-strawberries {actually eating them was totally wishful thinking, but they looked good}
-lemons and honey {to mix in hot water to hopefully soothe my throat}
-Cepacol
-OJ
-Milk {they had no full gallons, so I had to settle for a 1/2}
-Yogurt {the last one of this brand on the shelf}
-Chicken noodle soup

lego mosaic

Found this fun little app for my phone. This picture of Paxil is one of my favorites of the ones Justin and I took tonight. Just one more reason my new phone rocks!

President's Day

Justin had the day off for President's Day so he got to hang out with his dad all day since I don't get this "holiday" off. When he came home in the evening we had dinner and played a lego game. The game is called "Balancing Bananas" and the object is to get the most bananas without making the tree fall down. Once I had 4 bananas to his 3 Justin changed the rules on me - declaring that we were now a team with 7 bananas and that Towel {his make believe friend/brother} had none.

Towel gets blamed for a lot and he spends a lot of time in Justin's room sleeping.  He joined us last week and I am not sure how long he will be staying.

flowers

Jason was working at the Portland Yard and Garden show this weekend and during the take-down process called and asked if I wanted a flat of flowers.  I never turn down yard flair so I took in two flats.  Although I am pretty sure it is too cold for these beauties to be put outside - and since snow is in the forecast I am almost certain I would need a greenhouse to keep them alive.

Now normally I cannot wait to plant flowers and get the pots and flower beds spruced, but the spring flower bug has not bite me yet.

snot rags

So I really shouldn't complain.  I try so hard to get Justin to blow his nose rather than the alternative of sucking it back {gross}.  I got him the good tissues {the super soft ones with lotion} and he is using them!  About an hour later this pile was twice as big.  But the quantity of snot that makes it on each tissue is so miniscule that it is laughable.  But I am not complaining, I swear :)

slaving away

I have spent hours tonight working on my 2009 blurb book - and I have hardly made a dent in the project.  But I am having fun working on it and it is just a blast to go back to 2 years ago when I started my 'photo-a-day' journey.  Hopefully before too long I will have an awesome hard bound book of 2009.

weigh-in day

I like my weekly weigh in down at Weight Watchers. The meetings are fun and informative. All around I wish I had joined sooner.

I started to dive in to all the awesome apps I can get on my new phone and found this photobooth app that I could not pass up.  So cool!

Valentine's day prep

Justin {relunctly} signing his cards.  He did a great job!
My orginal plan for Justin's card didn't work out.  I had wanted to use cardstock and cut out lego heads, hands, legs and bodies and put together lego dudes holding glittered hearts.  Justin was on board and excited and we had picked out and purchased paper.  I had a template ready and then I started tracing and cutting and decided that it was too much work.  I couldn't stand the thought of non-homemade cards... and that is when the idea to stage a little lego dude photoshoot popped into mind.  I set up a little white backdrop, made some lego sweethearts, and a lego Justin - and then worked a little photoshop magic.

sugar free is no way to be

Since my standard fave creamer {Vanilla Caramel Coffee-mate} is ONE point plus per tablespoon...
And since I discovered that I prefer my daily coffee with about 5 tablespoons of creamer...
I thought I would try the sugar free version at 1 point plus for 5 tablespoons.
It is gross!  The artificial sweetener is all I can taste - and the aftertaste totally sucks.  It is so bad I briefly contemplated dropping coffee altogether and just doing black tea in the AM.

please line up

So every morning the cats get treats.  And every night too {but that is only because that is when Paxil gets his Prozac and it comes in a treat}.  They used to never get treats and snubbed me when I had offered in the past, but now they have come to expect them and they literally line up to get a goodie.  The ladies usually just look at me with wide eyes and wait patiently and politely.  Paxil meows, jumps on the counter, and generally pesters me until I drop the treat.
