project

I asked Justin to stand by the frames so I could send Amanda a picture indicating the scale of these babies.
One will be hers!
He was thrilled to do so.
And later I attacked them with spray paint.
In black they are ugly.  In blue they rock my world.

lego land

So I had the bright idea to take all of Justin's legos, dump them out and sort. This pile only represents about half of what he has. Needless to say I sorted like 1% of it and then gave up.

And later he played with some legos outside with neighbor Gavin.

Note to self: Stop buying legos.

reflection

At work we are getting a new sign installed on the building and I wanted to capture a few shots of the install. Since we are on the 6th floor the bucket truck had quite a long arm (the dude in the basket in above my shoulder to the right).

Camping: Day 2

We had a good sleep in our tent. It was actually quite cozy with an air mattress, double sleeping bags and extra blankets. We coordinated to meet up with Jamie, Jimmy and Scott at the casino for the breakfast buffet.

Next up we hit up the beach!

It was windy and a little chilly.  Which didn't bother Jimmy one bit.  The boys got fast to work on the sand and the rest of us hunkered down behind a log catching up.

Jimmy the mermaid, er.... merlad I mean.

There was no way Justin was going to follow Jimmy's lead but he wanted some buried in the sand action too.

LOVE the kites on the beach here.  So cool!

Lunch at Mo's had to happen.

Justin and I spent the afternoon at the Chinook Winds casino kiddy play area.  Jimmy was next door in the daycare play area - which looked fun - while Jamie and Scott played bingo.  We scored big on the Wheel of Fortune game and cashed all of Justin's tickets in on a few things behind the counter.
Then we had dinner followed by ice cream.
Back at camp we got the campfire going again and the Gibson gang joined us for campfire stories and s'mores before bed.

Camping: Day 1

I loaded up the car with our gear last night.
Jason dropped Justin off at my work at 1:00 pm and me and my boy hit the road to Lincoln City, Oregon. After arriving we set up camp!

Then we made a quick walk over to Devil's Lake to stick our toes in.
And Justin did his "happy camper dance"
He was pretty excited to be here

This was the cute little trail that led us back to camp from the lake

Next up:  hot dogs!

Then it was campfire time!
Justin was not a fan of the smoke coming from the fire.

S'mores and warm campfire toes!
At 7:20 Justin was begging to go to bed. He could not wait to crawl into the tent! We hung out at the campfire working on scary stories until it started to get a little darker and then we got ready for bed. I don't think he has ever been more excited to get into bed.

fishy

This little fishy - that has no name - got a tank clean out today.
Which totally creeps me out.
Scooping the little fish out with the net so I can scrub his little tank gives me the heebies!

bike rider

I wanted a sweet photo of my loving boy. His hair is the perfect length and he is looking extra delicious. But all he will give me is a cheese grin or a disinterested look like below.
This boy can't wait to get on his bike for a spin around the neighborhood. He is usually 1 of about 10 other kiddos peddling around. Reminds me of my love of bike riding when I was a kid.

Mt. Hood SkiBowl adventure

Today was the annual company picnic.
The forecast was gloomy, but I was optmistic.
I had been talking up "a picnic on the mountain"
for awhile now and Justin was pumped.
Sadly the weather only allowed us to take one ride up the chair lift
and then down the alpine slide.
I really dislike chairlifts.
Justin did better than I thought he would and enjoyed the ride.
He didn't let go of the pole the whole ride up.
The slide is a half mile of awesome!
We'll be back when the weather is nicer to do this again.

Oreo Brownies

I had a little craving for brownies.  So I made these last night and ate one and brought the rest into work where they disappeared quickly.  I bake Oreos into the brownie mix and then topped them with some vanilla bean buttercream and more oreos.  I think I love eating souped up brownies more than cupcakes.

pinecone hunter

I noticed a few weeks ago that there was a tree down the street that was dropping the perfect little pinecones!  I have been on the hunt for little pinecones to make a fall wreath from for awhile now.  I go down about every other day to collect what has fallen in the street.  I am tempted to ask the man that lives in the house if I can pick them up off his driveway too.  He seems to be pretty on top of cleaning them off his driveway and once they get squished by car tires they are useless to me.

It feels funny to be planning fall projects, but the craft store is already putting out fall and winter decor, so maybe I need to come to grips with it all too.

critter

My vacuum cleaner had been sitting practically in the middle of my living room for a week. I was being to lazy to unplug it, wrap up the cord and put it away.

Finally I decided that enough was enough and I unplugged it, wrangled the cord and grabbed the top handle to drag it away. That is when my hand landed on something on the handle that shouldn't have been on the handle. My brain processed... is it a sticker? Tape? I pulled my hand away and something dropped to the floor. It was this!

Enter a major case of the heebeejeebees! This thing was about 2 inches long! It wasn't dead but wasn't exactly hustling away either. It was the biggest bug I have ever seen!

So I did what any other normal creeped out person would do. Snapped a picture. Plugged the vacuum back in and sucked it up!  Ick!!!!

shampoo

Justin HATES getting his head wet!  A wet head usually equals a wet face, water in the eyes, nose and ears and Justin is not a fan.  I am finally enforcing a weekly shampoo for the boy and he is slowly learning to fight it less.  He insists that he is the one in control of getting his head wet and is finally getting more than a drop of water on his head with each pour.

so cool I have to wear two pairs of shades

Today we got up and walked to the store to get the english muffins that Justin insisted on for breakfast.  Then we drove 50 miles {round trip} to the craft store to get baskets and picture hangers.  We did some more nesting in Amanda's apartment and then hit the road back to Portland a little after 4 in the afternoon.  We had a good trip.

 {secrets and hugs}
We drove up to Seattle to help Amanda move.  Justin only asked "are we there yet" a dozen times.  We rewarded our hard work with pedicures and berry cobbler.
