weed whacker

This weekend was actually really productive!  Often times I feel like I do nothing but spin my wheels and never accomplish anything, but not this weekend!  Between our two days off {in no particular order} we:
  • Spent some more time out back hacking up the yard
  • Washed and folded 5 loads of laundry
  • Loaded and unloaded the dishwasher more times than I can count
  • Cleaned the inside of the car out and vacuumed it
  • Bought and let off fireworks
  • Played basketball
  • Watched 4 episodes of Justin's new favorite show "Wipeout"
  • Made 3 batches of strawberry freezer jam
  • Grocery shopping
  • Trip to Target
  • Trip to the mall to get a pretzel because I just had to have one
  • Played at the park
  • Justin made a city out of train tracks, matchbox card, Lincoln logs and legos
  • Picked up city made of train tracks, matchbox cars, Lincoln logs and legos
  • Made a batch of cake balls, still need to dip and decorate

Mickey Mouse cake

Another cake order via my very best customer/referral source:  Brandi
This cake was a great learning experience for me.  Creating the fondant Mickey took way more time than i though it would but I think he turned out so great!  The only thing that bums me out about this cake is that I couldn't fit the "7th" in between "happy" and "birthday"  - I really wanted to but I just didn't have the room.

Chef Justin

Lilypond puts on summer kids camps and since Justin is attending all summer for childcare he also gets to participate in the camps.  This week was "cooking camp" and on Thursday the kids served up a special lunch.  Parents were invited and we were served strawberry or blueberry lemonade, quesadillas, fruit kabobs, and awesome chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches.  It was pretty great!  Justin also learned to make pretzels, monkey bread, and granola bars.

elevator

Pulled out my phone not planning to snap a picture of myself in the elevator but did so on accident.

first day of summer

Today is the first official day of summer and luckily it actually felt like it too.  Perfect day weather wise if you ask me.  Justin was daring me to get him wet with the hose this evening.  Little does he know... I could really drench him if I wanted to.

tear it up

I have plans brewing to tear up my back yard and start over with good dirt and new seed.  This tiller that my renter borrowed from someone should come in handy.

bowling

Today was crappy by June weather standards {gray, wet, cold}.  Just to spite Mother Nature we went to Target and bought a swimsuit.  After we got home I threw out the idea that bowling sounded fun and Justin whole heartily agreed.  We bowled 5 games!  I bowled a 117 in three of the games {maybe that should be my new lucky  number}.  Justin did so great and he didn't want to stop.

bubble wand

We picked up this great bubble wand at the craft store. Justin made bubbles for about 10 seconds then handed the wand to me. I made the bubbles and he popped them. Since I don't have four hands I wasn't able to take any pictures that were better than this one. I love taking pictures of bubbles so we may have to whip out the bubbles when someone else is around to help me.

Juston

Justin's schedule with his dad changed again which means he gets to come to Weight Watchers meetings with me.  Certainly not his favorite but he doesn't hate it either.  The WW leader always calls him Lucas/Luke and I always correct her.  It is kind of a running joke now.  Today we all got name tags.  She doesn't know how to spell either, but it's close.

peonies

Awesome!  Peonies in a peony china tea pot that was my grandparents.

ink

Justin gave me this sweet tattoo today.  This is me {he even duplicated my outfit exactly}.  We went out to dinner at the Olive Garden and I rocked this.  It washed off in the bath that night.

#23

My favorite lunch is the #23 from the Vietnamese restaurant in LO.  I pretty much crave this everyday, but I manage to just go once a week.  It is so good!

my poor plants

This evening while I was in the kitchen and Justin was on the sofa I heard a loud crash.  I really didn't want to look and see what it was cause it sounded ugly.  Justin was closest to the destruction and screamed at Lucy who had been in the window sill and had caused the mess.  "My poor plants" he said, nearly in tears.  Then he stood there with his hands on his hips accessing the damage while I tried to will the situation away because I didn't want to clean up dirt and spiky cacti.

another pet store lizard

I have no desire to own a pet lizard but I think they are fun to photograph.

Going to the pet store with Justin is always a treat.  He showed me a pac man frog and a tree frog - I have no idea how he knows what either of those are - but he does.

new rubber

Today we wore shorts and short sleeved shirts and it felt so so good! It was a perfect day weather wise and a long time coming.

We started the day at Les Schwab spending way more than I anticipated on new tires for the car. Justin was pretty stoked to go to the tire store though. He ate the free popcorn and watched the guys work.

Later in the day, since it was so nice out we went to the park.

just washed

I forgot that a freshly washed car is basically an invitation for birds to crap on my car.
